40K game day at Jack’s!
With Dave W wanting to get in some practice games for a friendly narrative tournament he’s got at the end of the month, we scheduled a game day at Jack’s to let him get some practice in.

This will be updated over the next couple of days, but here are the pictures from the big 20,000pt Apocalypse game at Warhammer World!
Quick batrep! Haven’t had one in a while, and this was the second game at Jack’s place and the first on the new Necromunda-style terrain! Loads of catwalks, platforms and ladders. Can’t wait to get it all painted!
Initially we were going to do a scenario with the Dark Angels trapped in the Dark Eldar city of Commoragh and they would have to get to a comms unit objective (to allow them to call in reinforcements), but we were running out of time to set everything up, so we did a simple layout with 3 objectives down the middle of the battlefield at 1250 points. No vehicles, just footsloggers!
Dark Angels took Belial with a large Deathwing bodyguard, plus 2 more smaller squads of Deathwing. All would Deep Strike in but only Belial wouldn’t scatter at first.
Dark Eldar took 3 10-man squads of Kabalite Warriors with 1 Splinter Cannon and 1 Shredder each, 20 Hellions, 2 5-man squads of Scourges and a tooled-up Archon with a large cohort of Incubi.
DW’s friend Wiggy was up from the South to pay a visit to Warhammer World, so we took the opportunity to make it a day for a 3-person mini-tournament!
We only had 8 hours to get in 3 games. Each one of us would play twice, playing everyone in round-robin fashion. We used the Maelstrom of War missions (using the Tactical Objectives), rolling randomly to decide the mission. The first two players were decided by rolling a die, with Wiggy and David playing first. Frank got to sit and see Wiggy’s Mechanicum force in action! The overall winner would be decided by the total of Victory Points earned in every game!!

Space Wolves v Mechanicum
DW’s first 7th edition game, facing a Tyranid horde! WHO WILL WIN?!
Space Wolves:
Rune Priest (Warlord)
Lone Wolf
2 x 10 Grey Hunters in Rhinos
2 x Vindicators
3 x wolf-rider dudes
Long Fangs
Tyranids:
Flying Hive Tyrant with 2 x T-L Devourers with Brainleech Worms
2 x Tervigons with 30 Termagants each
3 x Venomthropes
3 x Carnifexes with 2 x T-L Devourers with Brainleech Worms
3 x Biovores
Exocrine
The board setup – there’s no more ‘roll for terrain’, you just place the terrain as you like it. I imagine tournaments will handle this very differently, but if you want to set up like an entrance to a city with wide-open areas at one side and a mega-dense area at the other, you can do that. It makes it a little less tactical but for ‘serious’ games you can roll 6th edition style. I think 7th requires you to talk a lot more with the other player to decide what sort of feel you both want for the game.
Unbound Tyranid & Chaos (Forgefiend in the middle of the picture and Heldrake in reserve) army faces off against a Dark Angel Deathwing force.
Two games with the Hammertime 40K crew today! Most of us were able to show up and get in a 2 vs 1 game starting just before noon, and around 3 we started a 4-player free-for all using the just-released Carnage rules from Black Library. Game 1: Dark Angels defending

Played a 1000 pt game with Shane tonight, had a lot of fun, it was a lot closer than we expected! We went for a smaller game than normal just to ease back into things, and didn’t go for a video batrep because we’d spend a ton of time looking
